Medicare Advantage Plan

Medicare Advantage Plans like an HMO or PPO they have built in prescription drug coverage. Advantage Plans also have co-payments. Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage, offer prescription drug coverage (Part D), through these plans. Medicare Advantage Plans with prescription drug coverage are sometimes called “MA-PDs.” Advantage Plans typically have value added benefits. These benefits vary between plans, but typical benefits include Health Club membership, Over the counter allowance, limited dental, eye and/or vision. You must have Part A and Part B to join a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs)

C-SNPs are geared primarily toward individuals who suffer from severe chronic conditions. Some of the conditions that warrant a C-SNP include HIV/AIDS, stroke, End-Stage Renal Disease, neurologic disorders, dementia, diabetes, and cancer. 

Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNPs)

Some people can qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare at the same time. These individuals are referred to by insurance professionals as “dual eligible.” Dual eligible Medicare enrollees have the option to enroll in SNPs that are designed to provide them with both their Medicare and Medicaid benefits simultaneously.
